Hold a Blue Hydrangea Tea Party and Raise Money for NOCC

Jennie Hudgins and Elizabeth McCune are the sister and daughter of Ann McCune, who died in 2002 after a 5 year struggle with ovarian cancer. In her honor, they have developed the concept of a “Blue Hydrangea Tea Party” as a way for women throughout the country to gather locally and host parties to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and financially support their favorite ovarian cancer organization.

 

Saturday, May 13th at 3 o’clock in the afternoon is the designated day and time for this year’s event. Guests are asked to bring a monetary donation in lieu of a hostess gift and each hostess may direct the donations to the ovarian cancer agency of her choice. "Come out and run/walk with us for our 2nd Annual Teal Ribbon 5k Run/Walk to Overcome Ovarian Cancer. The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition is pleased to be a charity partner of the Mack & Maggie Foundation. The Foundation is committed to improving health outcomes in the African-American community. The Second Annual Mack & Maggie Charity Weekend will be held at the Riande Continental Hotel, Miami Beach, Florida (South Beach) hosted by the Fanning Family Entertainment Group. Participant fees include lodging and admission to a “Vanilla Swirl” Affair on July 22, 2006 and Charity Breakfast and Terrace Luncheon on July 23, 2006 plus a donation to the Foundation.

OCAF is honored to have been selected as a beneficiary of the First Annual Ovarian Cancer 5K
Run/1 Mile Walk sponsored by the Citrus Road Runners.  The event will be held on August 19, 7:30 am, at the beautiful Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, FL.

Bloomingdales Shopping Benefit

OCAF has been extended an invitation to participate in the Bloomingdale’s “Shopping Benefit” to be held on October 26.  This is a charity benefit held annually and we are pleased to have been added to this year’s event.  Unfortunately, we were a “late” add, so we have to move quickly to get the word out and tickets sold.

Tickets will be sold for $10 each by each of the charities participating.  Each ticket entitles the bearer to a 15% - 20% savings certificate, with few exclusions, valid ONLY during “The Shopping Benefit” event on Thursday, October 26.  Savings certificates cannot be combined and are good on almost all merchandise purchases made throughout the store on the day of the event.  Florida stores participating are Orlando, Boca Raton, Aventura, Miami and Palm Beach Gardens.  Hours will be 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.

A conference for individuals and families affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer

Where: Tampa, FL

The Joining FORCEs conference is an annual forum on hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. We welcome anyone concerned about hereditary cancer: cancer survivors, high-risk individuals, those with a BRCA mutation or family history of cancer, and health care providers who treat high-risk patients.

The conference is sponsored by FORCE: Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered, the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute and the University of South Florida.

The 2007 conference is sponsored by FORCE: Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered, the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, and the University of South Florida.

Cost for registration is $120 until March 1, and $150 after March 1. Genetic counseling continuing education credits will be available for an additional $30. Nursing continuing education credit will be available for an additional $40.

A conference for individuals and families affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.

The Joining FORCEs conference is an annual forum on hereditary breast and ovarian cancer. We welcome anyone concerned about hereditary cancer: cancer survivors, high-risk individuals, those with a BRCA mutation or family history of cancer, and health care providers who treat high-risk patients.

The conference is sponsored by FORCE: Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered, the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute and the University of South Florida.
