Julia's High Tea

Hosting a “High Tea” for chemotherapy patients had been Julia Catan’s wish since she first heard of a High Tea being held in the chemotherapy room in a hospital in Orlando.

The woman who ran the program described the goodness and peace which the monthly High Tea brought to patients, their care givers and the medical staff.

The soothing quality of hot tea, served in china cups along with tea-time scones, clotted cream and jam, presented patients an opportunity to relax and enjoy the comfort of a quiet moment.

It became a time to reflect and remember those times when they shared a cup of kindness with a friend or loved one.

Julia was taken with the idea and she was determined that our Ovarian Cancer Alliance of FL/Space Coast, should do something like it here in Melbourne when the opportunity presented itself.

Julia was a beloved member of our Support Group and a cherished friend.  Today we enjoy the moment that she wished for, since her family has chosen to financially sponsor “Julia’s High Tea” in her memory.

Her friends and fellow survivors will serve the first High Tea in July at the office of  John Bomalaski, MD Gynecologic Oncology of Brevard, in Viera, FL.

Thank you Catan Family and thank you, Julia, for this wonderful gift.
